Rare night out for Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker - who's all glammed out in new ads for The Gap alongside rocker Lenny Kravitz - leads a life quite the opposite of her former Sex and the City alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw, reports the New York Daily News.

"How many times have you seen me out?" she asked the paper. "You haven't, because I'm not. You never see me at premieres. I don't go to parties. I am home all the time."

So what dragged the new mother from her cosy West Village abode up to Vera Wang's Park Ave apartment on a week night?

"Get Organised New York" - the New York City garage sale set for October 16-17 in Central Park that will benefit the city's public schools.

"This I'm really excited about," Parker said. "So every now and then it's nice to put makeup on and borrow clothes.

"I want the school system to be as good as it can be."
