KEY POINTS:
In the fairy tale Rapunzel, a maiden with metres-long hair hangs her braids from the tower where she's imprisoned so her beau can climb up and visit her.
The girls who entered Lithuania's sixth annual 'Miss Longest Hair' competition may not have been waiting for a prince, but they still found the inspiration to grow their hair to lengths in excess of one metre long.
Participants came from across the country to vie for the title and were judged not only on their hair's length, but also on a performance during which they were required to dress in costume and create a unique hairstyle.
The winner's hair measured an impressive 137cm.
