World champions and weekend warriors rub shoulders during the Armstrong Peugeot Festival of Cycling in Christchurch on December 2-3. This weekend of cycle events features top athletes as well as fun activities such as kids' races, penny farthing events and a celebrity tandem event. Saturday's main event is the Harbour Ride, a challenging but achievable 75km ride around the scenic Port Hills and Lyttleton Harbour. On Sunday Euro-style cycling hits the city's streets for the Criterium, with elite riders racing a tight circuit around the cafe strip.
