Proof your parents were once cool

It's hard to imagine the days when your dad sported a glorious moustache and a long mane of hair, while your mum wore skin tight short-shorts.

But if you're naive enough to think these days never existed, think again.

A new blog called My parents were awesome collects old photographs and stories, proving that "before the fanny packs and Andrea Bocelli concerts, your parents were once free-wheeling, fashion forward and super awesome".

The internet phenomenon pays homage to your hip and groovy ma and pa, back in the day when brown flares, platform shoes, handlebars and side burns were the definition of cool.

American inspired, the blog invites people to share photographs of their parents and grandparents when they were younger and care-free.

It's a nice reminder of the fact our parents actually lead interesting lives before we came along and they were, in fact, awesome.
