It was the moment Prince George stole the show. It may have been his great-grandmother's big day - when more than a thousand soldiers take part in the traditional ceremony of Trooping the Colour in honour of the Queen's official birthday - but at Buckingham Palace afterwards the little Prince showed he was born to the role.
On his first appearance on the palace balcony, where the royal family have lined up on so many joyous occasions, he was more than happy to show off his public skills.
In his father's arms, his doting grandfather the Prince of Wales at his side, George pointed coyly at the crowds in the Mall and looked up in amazement as the Red Arrows shot by in the skies above, leaving a trail of red, white and blue vapour.
And was that a wave? He clearly knows what's expected.
