Prince Andrew and Fergie were given two corgis following the late Queen’s death in September 2022. In addition, the former couple have five other dogs together, all of whom need exercise daily. It comes after he was reportedly asked not to attend the annual royal Christmas lunch.
Andrew’s public scandals – from his BBC interview to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, and now his alleged links with a Chinese spy – have earned him the nickname of “Duke of Hazard” in palace circles.
One source told the Sun, “He’s so down and demoralised, he hasn’t even been able to get himself motivated to take the dogs for a walk. He used to do it regularly, but recently he can’t even bring himself to go out.”
The Duke’s royal titles were removed by Queen Elizabeth in 2022 amid allegations of sexual assault.
Since then, two TV series have revisited his Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis. He’s also faced the prospect of being evicted from Royal Lodge by his brother King Charles. He’s refused to move into Frogmore Cottage instead, though his yearly stipend has been suspended.
Now, the Royal Household is looking into claims Andrew invited a Chinese spy to Windsor Castle, St James’s Palace and Buckingham Palace. MI5 is reportedly investigating claims the Duke received payments from China.
It’s believed Fergie convinced her ex-husband not to go to the royal family lunch this week, or Christmas Day at Sandringham.
