KEY POINTS:
The bob - as popularised by Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes - has been named the "most iconic haircut" of all time.
The hairstyle, originally associated with 60s stars such as Mary Quant and Twiggy, beat Jennifer Aniston's sleek long Friends cut in the survey. The Amy Winehouse-style 60s beehive was third, followed by the 70s Farrah Fawcett feathered number, as recently imitated by Madonna. Mia Farrow's ultra-short Rosemary's Baby crop was fifth, followed by Lady Diana Spencer's heavy fringe, worn to the side.
The online poll was commissioned by Hair magazine.
