KEY POINTS:
Hotel heiress Paris Hilton makes no secret of the fact she uses hair extensions. The demands of socialising and appearing at events the world over don't always leave time for a visit to the hairdresser, yet Paris is always perfectly coiffed.
Now she has teamed up with Sally Beauty Supply stores in the US to ensure everyone can get the polyester locks of their dreams.
The Bandit, a DreamCatchers product, is billed as "the first interchangeable hair extension headband".
The "hair" is available in eight different shades and three different lengths and attaches to a headband with velcro - an innovation the product's inventors say makes it possible for anyone to "change their look within minutes".
"My goal was to bring myself and my personality into this project," said Paris.
"I have been wearing extensions for years, and there is nothing out there like this product."
However the socialite's performance at yesterday's launch in Malibu failed to convince everyone.
"Her hands kept reaching up to make sure the hair extensions were still there," reported inquisitr.com.
And nydailynews.com pointed out that though Paris' use of hair extensions is well documented, her faux manes haven't always received rave reviews.
"Former Saturday Night Live star Tina Fey complained on Howard Stern's radio show in 2006 that the heiress left 'nasty wads of Barbie hair' around the SNL set," the website noted.
It added: "Hilton also drew stares last week when the bindings from her extensions peeked out from her coif at a nightclub opening."
