Makes 1.5 litres of sauce and approximately 24 straws
Plum sauce
1 kg plums
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp dried chilli
1 Tbs fresh ginger, finely chopped
2 cups brown sugar
2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cups white wine vinegar
Cheese straws
1 cup self raising flour
1 tsp dried mustard
1 tsp paprika
60g butter, diced
1/2 cup grated tasty cheese
1/2 cup feta, crumbled
1 egg
1 To make the sauce; halve the plums and remove stones. Roughly chop.
2 Put all the ingredients in a large saucepan or preserving pan. Bring to the boil while stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
