A lock of hair allegedly from the Princess of Wales is up for sale online at $1800.
The American seller described the memorabilia on the Amazon website as a "few strands" of Diana's hair. The lock comes in a frame with a photograph and a facsimile signature.
It is claimed the strands were taken from a book signed by Diana in 1995 - two years before her death in a Paris car accident - although exactly how they came to be there is not explained.
A spokesman for the British Monarchist Society said: "The sale of modern royal hair makes us feel uneasy and we are sure Princes William and Harry would be disturbed by the auction too: it is, essentially, a body part."
The photograph also appeared on eBay, but it has since expired and not relisted. It had a price tag of US$349.
