Spirituality and government surveillance are hot topics on Whitcoulls' new Top 100 book list.
George Orwell's dystopian novel 1984 made the top 100, sitting at number 54.
Its placing comes at a time of concerns about citizens' right to privacy and the surveillance state. The book was an "original futuristic look at what our lives would become", Whitcoulls said. "It was prescient, and it becomes more relevant with each passing year."
The Bible was 25 on the list.
The most popular remained the The Millennium Trilogy, which includes the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
