In the first of a monthly series, we visit a stylish workplace to find out what other people wear to work. First up: vintage store Tatty's.
At Tatty's Designer Recycle there is no dress code, but being a creative, fashion environment, there's a natural tendency for staff to express their individual style through what they wear to work - whether that be a penchant for draped, slouchy layers, or classic stripes and sneakers.
The Auckland vintage institution opened its first store in 2006, a distinctive mint green building on Ponsonby Rd, and now has two popular vintage emporiums (a Central City store opened last year) that take quality, unwanted stylish clothes, shoes and accessories and sell on behalf.
There are about 16 staff working across the two stores, and though wearing vintage to work isn't mandatory, thrift pieces, both vintage and second hand designer, make frequent appearances - and staff admit they're always tempted by what's hanging on the racks.
