Edward L. Masry, the lawyer made famous in the movie Erin Brockovich, has died aged 73.

Masry and Erin Brockovich, a self-trained legal assistant, started down the road to fame by winning a US$333 million ($468.88 million) settlement on behalf of more than 600 residents of Hinkley, California, who claimed that Pacific Gas & Electric tanks had leaked carcinogenic poisons into groundwater supplies.
