NZ twins to sing at September 11 commemoration

Twin singers Marla Kavanaugh and Marissa Craig will perform at a commemoration of the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York's Central Park.

The identical twins, daughters of Palmerston North soprano Kathi Craig, will be seen by millions when the concert is televised across the United States.

They will sing I Will Remember You at the end of the event. Marla will also sing with the Harlem Boys Choir.

A feature of the commemoration will be an address by New York senator Hillary Clinton.

Earlier this month, the twins sang for a director of Canter Fitzgerald, the financial firm that lost all its 680 staff when the first plane struck the Twin Towers. He is one of the organisers of the Central Park event.

The twins are negotiating with a New York producer/conductor to make their first "twin opera brats" CD.

The last time they sang together was at the New Zealand Government's celebrations at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles last year.
