After a countdown from three, the young model and competitive eater brings the mammoth snack to her mouth and attacks it from every angle.
She doesn't appear to chew as she swallows great lumps and works her way down the stuffed tortilla at a steady pace.
"My secret to competitive eating is - don't take in too much air," Nela told Daily Mail Australia.
"Since I've been doing this for a while now, I've trained myself to take in as little as possible to prevent myself from getting sick."
Later in the clip Nela stands up while continuing to pile the food into her mouth.
She concludes the challenge by eating the bits of food that dropped onto the table before showing the camera her empty mouth.
"I actually felt great after the video stopped rolling," she said.
"My friend and I went to get ice cream afterwards."
According to the Mad Mex website, successful competitors win an authentic wrestling mask made by a mascarero professional in Mexico.
Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Nela and was scouted at the age of sixteen by a local modelling agency.
She moved to Auckland when she was eighteen to pursue her modelling career and in 2013 was named Miss Earth New Zealand.
A competitive eater, the model has previously won several other challenges, including a burger and a pizza eating contest.
"I think the stereotypes about models avoiding fast-food as part of their diet are untrue," she told Daily Mail Australia.
"The models I know are always eating, especially backstage at fashion shows and photo shoots. I think you should never deprive yourself as that leads to unhealthy behaviours.
"I believe in the 20/80 rule where 80 percent of the time, I'm eating healthy and keeping fit.
"While the other 20 percent, I can eat whatever I like. It's all about enjoying life and taking care of your body and mind."
She now has ambitions to become the overall fastest competitor at the Mad Mex restaurant.
"One of my friends, Isaac Harding-Davis, from Sydney, is an amazing competitive eater who finished a burrito in 60 seconds.
"I'm aiming to get as close to his time as possible and maybe beat him one day soon."
She added: "I'll be uploading more eating challenges on my YouTube Channel in the coming weeks so keep an eye out."
