New Zealanders are happier than their rivals from across the ditch, according to a new report released today.
The World Happiness Report 2015 puts New Zealand at number nine in the happiness stakes - just one spot ahead of Australia.
It is the third World Happiness Report published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network analysing national statistics from 158 countries.
The top 10 countries are all small or medium-sized western industrial countries, the report states.
Countries were ranked based on answers from citizens in each country evaluating the quality of their lives from 2012 - 2014.
