New Zealand made films and film makers continue to be recognised internationally with the announcement of the nominees for the 2006 Bafta (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards.
The British equivalent of the Oscars announced last week acknowledged the technical and behind the scenes work of King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia, while and Nicki Caro's North Country was given two acting nominations.
Charlize Theron was nominated in the actress in a leading role category and Frances McDormand was nominated as actress in a supporting role for their work in North Country.
King Kong picked up nominations for production design and sound, while Chronicles was nominated for costume design and makeup and hair.
Both were also nominated for achievement in special visual effects.
The Baftas will be held on February 19 in London.
