Forget the bleak greys and browns of winter outside — 17 eye-catching works of silk will usher in hottest in-season paint colours this Fashion Week.
NZ Fashion Tech students were given a fashion paint colour from Resene, and within four weeks 35 intricately detailed looks were woven, smocked, crushed, quilted, embroidered, draped, pleated and bunched into works of silk.

The top 17 were chosen by judges to show on the Resene Designer Runway during Fashion Week in August — judges selected two more works than planned, because the standard was so high.
Students looked around the world for inspiration citing muses as diverse as a Mediterranean shellfish, a neon sign in Times Square, the Paris glitterati and Louis XIV.
