New Zealand actress Emily Barclay has been named this year's Most Promising Newcomer at the British Independent Film awards for her part in the movie In My Father's Den.
The film was a joint British and New Zealand production.
The 21-year-old won best performance by an actress in a leading role for her part in the movie at the New Zealand Film Awards earlier this year.
Tilda Swinton, who is soon to be seen playing the white witch in New Zealand director Andrew Adamson's $282 million film adaptation of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, received the Richard Harris award for outstanding achievement in acting.
The big winner was the film The Constant Gardener. Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz won the top acting awards for their roles.
The movie also won the best film award.
