Nicole Richie says accessories are key

Nicole Richie believes that "accessories speak volumes".

The creative director for Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960 is all for wearing outfit-enhancing jewellery and bags.

Richie thinks that the plainest outfit can be transformed with accoutrements.

"Accessories speak volumes when it comes to a person's wardrobe especially when one is dressed down in jeans and T-shirt," Richie told FASHIONetc.

Expressing yourself fully, without restriction is Richie's accessory styling motto.

"There are no rules," she declared.

Richie feels like her style is constantly evolving. She does not believe she will dress the same a decade from now.

"Yes, my style has changed, but I have changed," Richie explained.

"It's the natural process of becoming a woman. It's not stopping here."

Richie hopes that one of her favourite items of jewellery from the past becomes fashionable again in the future.

"I went through a serious choker phase," she recalled.

"I have a feeling they are going to be making a comeback very soon. Mark my words!"
