At least six New Zealand designers are heading to Australian Fashion Week next month. Kate Sylvester, World, Trelise Cooper, Zambesi, Holic, Sample Only and fashion newcomer Jimmy D - the winner of a major new fashion award, Mercedes Benz Start Up New Zealand - will show their spring/summer 2005/06 collections.
The event is in its 10th year and all the designers taking part were asked to do a commemorative painting for the celebrations. Cooper's effort - a catwalk parade superimposed with an image of the Sydney Opera House - has been chosen ahead of all others to feature on a flag that will fly around Circular Quay, where Fashion Week is being held.
The painting was a collaboration between Cooper and her art director Andrew Trott.
