Dr Rowald Hepp, from Germany and Simon Nunns from Coopers Creek Vineyard in Kumeu are among 13 experts tasting 120 wines each over three days at one of New Zealand's largest wine shows.
Judging for the New World Wine Awards started on Monday at Te Papa in Wellington and finishes today.
A record 1332 entries were submitted this year.
Dr Hepp is this year's guest international judge. He is the director and head winemaker of Schloss Vollrads in the Rhine Valley of Germany, a castle and wine estate that has been making riesling for more than 800 years.
