Offering "original master mixes of 16 classic tracks", this chronological set suggests Young has been pretty much out of luck since 1978, with only two tracks coming from subsequent decades. Which, as the Young faithful know, ain't necessarily so. Still, it's got all of Young's campfire singalongs from his California singer-songwriter beginnings and some banner-waving rockers from later on, including the still-insane Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black) from Rust Never Sleeps. And, yes, the rest of it does sound better than your battered vinyl copy of After the Goldrush.
