Review: Peter Eley
All ages Fox is trying to cash in on its substantial TV sporting rights with a series of computer/console games.
While its NHL Championship 2000 was ultra-realistic, NBA Basketball 2000 has more glitz, less depth and is probably not as satisfying.
As a game, it's OK. The graphics are good, and the action can be furious. There are lots of different dunks and variable camera angles give a good perspective on the game. All official 29 NBA teams are featured, with full rosters and ratings, and every player has a pen portrait.
But the gameplay's not quite there for the serious player. Your team's top players seem to miss shots a blindfolded rookie could make, and the computer is impossible to beat in certain situations. If you're the sort of diehard fan who still collects trading cards, EA's Basketball Live 2000 is probably a better option.
