"Did you fall over, Bernard?" she asked. "Look at your knees, love! And your hands! And is that a big bump on your head?"

"Yes!" said Bernard.

He was still having a cuddle with Mum when Dad got in.

"Hey there, kids! Did you have fun at the summer project?" he asked eagerly.

"I didn't have very much fun, Dad" said Bernard.

"Big Dan kept pushing him over!" Mum said. "In fact, they all kept picking on him and calling him names. He's not going back."

"I don't want to go back," said Bernard.

But he had to go back. Dad said so.
