Mum's cunning trick to get kids doing chores

One mum has come up with an especially effective way to get her kids to help out with the housework - taking away internet access.

The clever mum wrote a note to her children, saying they could unlock the WiFi code after posting a photo of the clean kitchen, and the cunning ploy has struck a chord with parents.

A photo of the letter was uploaded to Imgur, where it has been viewed more than 200,000 times.

In the note, the mum says the photo of the clean kitchen must include a box of crackers, which would be proof that the kids had not cheated by using a previous image.

The photo has received more than 500 comments, and prompted many to share stories of how their own parents got them to do chores.

"Times have changed, my mom used to just take the game controllers," wrote one commenter.

"My mom would text me a list of everything that needed [to be] done by 2:30 when she got home. It was either done or one of us got grounded," wrote another.

However, others said the children would probably just re-set the router or even use Photoshop to edit in the crackers.

"Joke would be on my mother as I [would] use an old photo and photoshop in the crackers after setting up a mini green screen around the counter, wrote one tech-savvy viewer.

"Or just hold down the reset button on your router and use the default password!", said another.
