If you're ever tempted to skip your weekly vacuum then you might want to take a look at this photo.
One Australia mum has shared the stomach-churning amount of dust and dirt her vacuum cleaner managed to pick out of her seemingly clean carpet.
In a post shared in theMums Who Clean Facebook group, the woman explained that she lived in a three-bedroom house and would usually vacuum her carpet weekly, while cleaning hard surfaces several times a week.
"My Miele vacuum picks up this amount every week," the mum wrote, adding that she was grateful for "how effective" it cleaned her carpets.
In her post, the mum also said she tried to reduce the amount of dirt in her carpets by keeping windows closed.
"It's crazy, I'm amazed at the amount of dirt I sweep up off my floors if I have my side windows open. I keep it shut on windy days for that reason," another person wrote.
But some argued that by keeping windows shut it could be making things worse.
"I personally air my house out by opening lots of windows, fresh air to release build-up of chemicals and stop moisture or mould from building up inside," one person wrote.
"Open windows decreases allergens in the air, kills bacteria and germs and freshens your house up," a second person added.
Others joked that the dust pile looked like a dog and others said that the particles could be something other than dirt.
"OMG I thought it was a chicken schnitzel or something and wondered what it was doing on a vacuum," another quipped.
"It could be because your carpet underlay and backing are breaking down," one commented.
