A pregnant mother has been slammed online after revealing she got caught leaving her 5-year-old son home alone.
The mother, who is 34 weeks pregnant, shared on Reddit that she often leaves her son alone, including when she has left the oven on, and sees no problem with it.
"A five-year-old is perfectly capable of fending for himself for an hour," she wrote in her post.
However, what makes things worse is that her fiance had no idea she was leaving their son home alone.
"I am 34 weeks pregnant, I have a five-year-old son (and) my fiance works six days per week," she began.
"This makes it extremely hard for me to leave the house.
"It's a pain being pregnant and having to get my son ready and in the car, so I usually leave him home behind my fiance's back (no judgment please)."
She explains that as she was pregnant she was craving something at the mall, so she left her son at home with his lunch in the oven and she thought by the time she got back his lunch would be ready.
She then went on to justify her actions explaining that her boy was toilet-trained and happy to play games, or watch TV while she went food shopping.
But this particular time, her fiance caught her out and sent her angry text messages.
"I get these messages from my fiance 30 minutes after I leave ... my question is would you guys be mad if your significant other spoke to you this way?"
The woman was so shocked by her fiance's lecture, she's now thinking about leaving him.
"I'm honestly about to pack my bags and never let my son see his father again as well as when this baby is born."
Redditors responded by defending the father for her careless actions.
"Given the gravity of the situation, I'd say he's pretty composed", one Reddit user said.
Another described her parenting decision as "insanity".
"She knowingly left her young five-year-old kid at home alone unsupervised with the oven on. That's insanity," they wrote.
"She has no right to say anything let alone have a tone with her husband who is justified in his response."
One said a leaving your kid for a few minutes is fine, but any longer than that is dangerous.
"I mean I might argue a kid can handle themselves for a bit, but a whole hour, with the oven running, no food ready, while she is out at a mall?" they asked.
"Five minutes in and my kid would have burned himself on that oven."
