Almost half of New Zealanders won't be celebrating Mother's Day today, according to a New Zealand Herald online reader poll.
The poll, posed to readers at the end of last week asked how the day would be marked. Over 5000 people had responded by 8am this morning, with 44 per cent saying they wouldn't be doing anything special with mum.
About a quarter of readers said they would take mum out for a nice meal and just over 20 per cent would express their care in a card.
A traditional favourite, breakfast in bed, has gone out of favour, with only 11 per cent saying mum would receive this treat.
