Mother shares snap of daughter's Kmart skirt, with an unusual twist

Upon first glance this picture of a skirt hanging on a clothes line seems totally normal. Look a little closer and you probably still don't notice anything unusual, do you?

A woman posted the photograph of her 2-year-old daughter's floral skirt on the Kmart Mums Australia Facebook page, explaining why it's worth a second look.

The mother wrote in the post: "Whipped up a skirt for my almost two-year-old this afternoon using one of the tea towels I purchased recently. Could easily have made two from the one tea towel."

The best part? The creation cost a measly $3.

Her initiative attracted admiration from other mothers in the group and triggered more interesting ideas.

"Anyone done something similar in an adults size?" Asked one user.

Another suggested: "You could make a pillowcase dress with them as well."

While earning praise from others who labelled the toddler's skirt "fabulous" and "cute", some jumped in to make it clear the applauded mother wasn't the only one to come up with this cost-cutting hack.

One shared a photo of a Christmas-themed flamingo skirt she also made from a tea towel, and revealed her plans to make shorts from a llama print tea towel.

Another used the same flamingo tea towel to make a dress for her daughter to wear for Christmas carols in the park.

And another made tote bags out of the tea towels: one towel equals one tote.
