An Australian mother who donated a kidney to her 29-year-old daughter died a day later due to complications last week.
Despite being in good health Penny Halbish, 62, developed a blood clot which caused a heart attack and her subsequent death, the Herald Sun reported.
Her daughter Suzanne returned home yesterday in good health but is still coming to terms with the shocking loss of mother, a Fox News report said.
Halbish's son Phil told the Herald Sun his mother "lived for her family".
"She was very generous and caring. Everybody loved her," he said.
Phil said his sister was "shattered" at the loss of their mother who had given Suzanne a "fantastic kidney".
"She is recovering better than scheduled," he said.
Halbish was the wife of former Cricket Australia chief executive Graham Halbish.
Since 1966 there have been 3931 kidney transplants in Australia. Only one other person has died from a live kidney transplant during that time.
