KEY POINTS:
There's no such thing as bad publicity, it seems, especially if it involves supermodel Kate Moss.
Britain's fashion industry named the 32-year-old Model of the Year at last night's British Fashion Awards - a title bestowed on the "model who contributed most to the international fashion scene in the past year".
The award comes just one year after Moss was photographed snorting cocaine with junkie boyfriend Pete Doherty, causing the poster girl to be dropped by several top designers, including Burberry and Chanel.
Surrounded by a media storm, Moss checked in to a rehab facility in Arizona, America, in a bid to win back public favour.
After a month's stay at the facility, the mother-of-one returned to life in the spotlight, winning more than a dozen new contracts and gracing the cover of several fashion magazines.
Last night's award announcement came on the same day that Colombian Vice President Francisco Santos spoke out about Moss' success, saying it was symptomatic of the European attitude towards drugs.
"We need to tell Europeans that that line of coke they snort is tainted blood," he told Associated Press.
"To me it's baffling that someone who helps cause so much pain in Colombia is doing better than ever and winning more contracts than ever."
