Rae Morris has a CV longer than most people's arms, of celebrities, magazines and fashion designers she's done makeup for. Cate Blanchett, Daryl Hannah, Ian Thorpe and Delta Goodrem are just a few of the faces she's worked on. The former hairdresser is L'Oreal's guest makeup artist during this year's Fashion Week.
What do you love about makeup?
The life it has given me, the people I get to meet. Creating something beautiful every single day of your life and getting paid to do so.
Whose makeup would you most like to do?
Jessica Alba. I think she has one of the most beautiful faces in the world. And Christy Turlington, even if she's very 90s.
Career highlight?
Winning the title of Australian Makeup Artist of the Year for the third time.
What's the most important ingredient to looking good?
Healthy skin. There are so many new exciting procedures for this. Having manicured hands and feet at all times and being content with yourself. Happier people always look good.
What should women bear in mind when applying makeup?
Their age. And ask yourself: would an actress walking down the red carpet at the Academy Awards ever wear makeup like this? Always apply makeup in the most natural light. If you are unsure check yourself out in the car rearview vision mirror. The light reflects back on to your face and you will see everything. And there is no point having great makeup with overly or badly plucked eyebrows.
How can you look like you've had a full eight hours sleep when you've been up all night?
Concealer. Blush on your cheeks, like Bush Delice, Ginger Snap from L'Oreal, or even Mousse Appeal cream shadow. The melon shade is a beautiful soft pink with a sheer hint of gold through it. Lots of lip gloss and lots of mascara to the top lashes only - this lifts your eyes.
The best way to achieve model-perfect skin?
Drinking plenty of water, sun protection and a good skincare routine. With makeup it's about illuminating the skin. Using a dewy foundation is best for this. Applying a concealer for the imperfections, after the foundation and also fake tan. L'Oreal's Sublime Bronze Gel, is a fantastic way of giving a natural, healthy glow to the face.
What's the best way to tackle a blemish?
Same as above, but hitting it with eye whitening eyedrops is amazing, it takes the swelling out and reduces the red.
What are your desert island products?
Sunscreen and buckets of it, lip gloss and fake tan, because I'm so white.
Makeup-wise is there anything you'd never wear?
Bright orange lips with dark brown lip liner, frosty pink lips with dark brown lip liner. Actually, any lip liner that doesn't perfectly match my lipstick.
Where will the focus be for makeup this summer?
Bright lips - hot pinks, hot reds - and silky luminous skin.
Are there any back-stage tricks you're able to share with us?
Do your eye makeup first. Don't worry about the mess under your eyes, you clean that up before you do your base.
