Debra Messing has hit out at the pressure Hollywood and society puts on new mothers to lose weight.
The star of TV sitcom Will & Grace and romantic comedy film The Wedding Date, said it was not just women in the public eye who were forced to shed weight soon after giving birth.
"It's obscene," said Messing, who gave birth to her first child, son Roman, in Aprillast year.
"I think a good rule of thumb is to keep in mind it takes nine months to go through that transformation and everyone should presume it will take another nine months to go and do another transformation of that magnitude. Anything less than that I think is unfair."
