Women are more likely to cheat on men who fail to do enough housework, a major French study has found.
In a poll of 10,000 female subscribers to Gleedon, an online site for married and unfaithful people, 73 per cent claimed this was the reason they were driven to infidelity.
Eighty-six per cent of respondents said they were deeply frustrated by their man's tendency to avoid housework, while 84 per cent admitted to it having caused arguments.
The poll will be a cause for concern for many men in France following a survey last year by the national statistics agency INSEE which found that women in France still carry out two-thirds of domestic chores.
In Britain, recent figures show white men do 31 per cent of the chores, spending about six hours a week on them, compared to 14 hours for women. Black British men were more egalitarian, doing about 40 per cent of the chores.
