Actress Gillian Anderson and documentary film-maker Julian Ozanne have separated after 16 months of marriage.

The couple wed at a friend's beach house off Kenya's Indian Ocean coast.

Anderson has an 11-year-old daughter, Piper, from her previous marriage.
