Marine electronics manufacturer Furuno has continued its remarkable domination of the annual National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) awards.
The company picked up five out of the 10 awards presented at the recent 2010 NMEA convention in Seattle.
Furuno has now won 181 NMEA awards since 1971.
Included in this year's haul was the coveted Manufacturer of the Year - Support award, which Furuno received for the fifth straight year. The company has been the only recipient of this award since its introduction five years ago.
The company's flagship NavNet 3D also featured prominently in the awards, winning two major categories: best radar and best navigation.
In the best radar category, the winning NavNet 3D DRS Ultra Hi-Definition Radar series meant Furuno has now won this category for 35 consecutive years.
In the best navigation category, the NavNet 3D MFD12 took the award for the second year in a row.
Furuno's new FCV295 continued the company's long tradition of landing the award for best fish finder. It has now won this award for an incredible 39 years in a row.
The company completed its awards haul with second place in the Marine Specialty Product category, for its SC30 Satellite Compass.
NMEA is perhaps best known as the organisation that sets standards for electronic interfaces for navigation equipment, communication protocols and the like (for example, NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000).
NMEA members, who each vote in the annual awards, include dealers, distributors, industry experts and approved technicians.
