A woman in the US has gone viral after revealing a "ridiculous" response from a man who ghosted her after their first date.
In a TikTok video that's gone viral, @__nikk1 shared how the pair had "absolutely hit it off" and spent six hours together on their first date.
"He made a reservation for a restaurant that he chose, we met there, we had dinner and then we left and walked around the little town we were in," she said.
"We ended up getting some ice cream, which I paid for."
The date ended with them getting drinks at a restaurant and afterwards Nik said the man had texted her wanting to meet up before he went away on a work trip, however, had been unable to find a time that suited both of them.
They made plans to see each other the day after he returned from his trip but Nik never heard back from him.
"He kind of completely disappears, goes MIA, which I understood to an extent because he was on a work trip," she said.
Nik decided to be the bigger person and message him, asking if he was still keen on meeting up for their second date.
He never replied, with Nik saying she "never expected to hear from him" and assumed she was being ghosted.
But to her surprise he messaged her on Christmas Day asking how she was as he didn't "want you to think that I'm ghosting you or didn't have a really great time with you".
In response Nik wished him a good Christmas and wrote: "Just a curious question, are we just gonna pretend you didn't just completely disappear when we were supposed to see each other last Sunday?
"I get it, life gets busy but you totally could've at least just communicated that with me instead of leaving me in the dark."
In response the man fired off two text messages, claiming he had an "emergency trip" before going on to slam her behaviour on their date.
"Honestly, I wasn't hot with insane urgency because I noted you excused yourself to the bathroom when the cheque came for dinner and then also drinks and I hate it when girls do that."
The man said it had been "rude and cheap" of her, accusing her of being "really disrespectful" and acting "like you really don't care despite what I felt from you".
"I thought I would reach out again and see if you'd like to see each other again and could try this again, but it sounds like you're not interested, which is fine!" he ended the text exchange.
In response Nik apologised if it had seemed like she was avoiding the restaurant bill and it was "definitely not my intention".
"Quite frankly I didn't even think about it. I was just using the rest room when we left places," she wrote.
Nik also explained in the video that she had no idea their waiter was going to bring their bill around when she was in the toilet.
But after politely trying to end the exchange the man continued, claiming she had picked the restaurant and accusing her of using him for his "f***ing trust fund".
"I know it's probably ridiculous to you but one of the traits I am looking for in a woman is for them to innately feel the need to pay for what they ordered (or at least offer) without assuming I will cover it," he wrote.
People on TikTok labelled the man's behaviour on TikTok "creepy" and said the text exchange was a massive red flag.
"Oh sis you dodged a bullet," one person wrote.
"I get guys appreciate when women offer to pay but that was a bit dramatic of him," another commented.
