Singer Barry Manilow took his Emmy with him for good luck in the operating room where he had hip surgery this week.
Hours after the 60-year-old won the Emmy for outstanding individual performance in a variety or music programme, he went under the knife at a hospital in Southern California.
Manilow came through the operation "swimmingly", then headed home to Palm Springs, California, said his publicist. His recovery and rehabilitation is expected to last six to eight weeks.
