She was still dancing when the garage door opened and Mum was back with the boys. Lacey switched off the music, her concentration shattered by images of a baby donkey on a farm in the country.
"Well?" she demanded. "What was it like? Did it give you asthma?"
Jonny's face glowed. In fact, his whole skinny body glowed and she swore he was walking ten centimetres clear of the ground. "Not even a little wheeze!" He threw his arms around Lacey. Isn't it magic? And you should see her, Lacey! She's so cute. She's all fluffy."
"Mum's given her a name," Martin said, his eyes beaming out a few hundred watts as well. "She's called Candyfloss."
"She's pink and sticky, is she?" Lacey muttered.
Mum gave her a sharp glance. "You should've come Lacey. She's lovely. You'll adore her."
