Their unusual blend of roots, blues, folk, pop, rock and trip-hop made them difficult to market and confused the hell out of radio programmers but indie Auckland band Lucid 3 still made an impression when they released their debut album Running Down The Keys two years ago.
Perhaps their second release, All Moments Leading to This will do better in the mainstream. It's still a smoky, bohemian affair and no doubt the launch gig will be, too, as they join Gramsci frontman Paul McLaney at the Kings Arms tonight.
Then on Sunday, frontwoman Victoria Girling Butcher performs an acoustic gig with Charlotte Johansen and Jonny Rubicon again at the Kings Arms. See story previous page.
