Models will need to do more than walk the walk if they want to win a coveted spot on the runway at next month's Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
Turet Knuefermann, designer of the sexy IPG label, is looking for girls with a fiery gleam in their eye - and apparently liked what she saw at yesterday's auditions at Auckland's Hilton hotel.
"We are looking for girls with attitude that have a really strong feel about them," she said.
"Brunettes and blondes, they need to have that fieryness in their eyes - and a strong, confident walk."
More than 200 of the nation's most beautiful people strutted their stuff in front of top designers yesterday.
The girls showed off their long limbs in short skirts and high heels, while the guys on show were mainly dressed in jeans and T-shirts.
Fashion week managing director Pieter Stewart said casting day was one of the biggest on the modelling calendar.
Several more international models were due to arrive before the festival.
Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2005 runs October 18-21.
