Sir Bob Geldof took his daughters to the launch of the Live Aid DVD - almost 20 years after the musical event took place.
Geldof had vowed never to allow the event, staged in Wembley and Philadelphia, to be re-broadcast, arguing that it would be more powerful as a one-off memory. But the increased trade in pirated copies of the show, which was watched on July 13, 1985, by over 1.5 billion people, and the onset of another famine crisis in Africa made him change his mind.
The former Boomtown Rats star said Chancellor Gordon Brown had told him the Government would not claim any value added tax on the DVD of the event, which raised over US$140 million ($203.9 million) for famine relief.
Geldof, who arrived at the screening with daughters Fifi, 21, Peaches, 15, Pixie, 14, and Tiger Lily, 8, said there were no plans for another concert.
