LONDON- London singer-songwriter Lily Allen has scored her debut UK number one with Smile, the Official UK Charts Company has said.
The 21-year-old Londoner, the daughter of actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen, has been described as the "Queen of MySpace" for the huge following she has gathered on the networking Web site for her witty ska-pop songs.
Newspapers have tipped her as the year's sound of the summer and made her a favourite to make the shortlist for this year's prestigious Mercury music prize.
Allen's single jumped 12 places to take the top spot, pushing Hips Don't Lie from Colombian-born singer Shakira into second place.
British indie rockers Razorlight entered the top ten at number three with In The Morning, while 19-year-old Scottish soul singer Paolo Nutini enjoyed his first chart success with Last Request at number five.
French dance DJ Bob Sinclair - real name Christophe Lefriant - was new at number nine with World Hold On (Children Of The Sky).
In the album charts, British rock trio Muse went straight to number one with their latest release Black Holes & Revelations.
