As you can imagine, all of us at the publishing house have been quite concerned about Lemony Snicket ever since his obituary appeared in The Daily Punctilio.
Obviously, just because you read something printed on a page does not mean that it is true, but nevertheless we had been waiting for some word about Lemony Snicket and his work on the Baudelaire case, so I immediately uncrumpled the pages of the diary and read them as the elevator took me up to my office.

Dear Dairy, the diary began, the letter continued,

Today was a very cold and bitter day, as cold and bitter as a cup of hot chocolate, if the cup of hot chocolate had vinegar added to it and were placed in a refrigerator for several hours.
