Lady Gaga: I change my look when my 'soul is restless'

Lady Gaga says she changes her appearance when she feels "restless", and takes inspiration from designer Donatella Versace.

The 28-year-old performer, who is famous for her bizarre outfits, has told Porter magazine that the period between September and December 2013 were the "most manic performance of my life" because of how unsettled she felt.

"That's when I know my soul is restless," she told the interviewer.

"It comes out in a very physical way. If I'm able to hold on to one look for a longer period of time, it means I've settled into a new idea. If I haven't, I'm just searching for the next thing, 'What's next? What's next?"'

Gaga said she admires the way Versace designs what she feels like, regardless of people might say when the clothes hit the catwalk.

"In her recent collection, every gown was like she was flipping two middle fingers, with long nails covered in diamonds, down the runway," Gaga said. "It was so unapologetically Donatella, so undeniably beautiful and sexy and her."

It isn't the first time the star has sung the praises of Versace, 58, who is also a friend.

In January, after attending Atelier Versace's Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Spring/Summer 14 event, Gaga tweeted: "@versace was a dream come true 2nite. A woman so fearless whose come so far.
