Somehow, Kylie Minogue has the power to get even the most jaded fashionistas - that is, the British fashion press - excited.
It's the London launch for the latest range of her eponymous lingerie line, and the media pack has its collective knickers in a twist.
Where is she? What's she wearing? Is Olivier (French boyfriend Olivier Martinez) here? The conversation bubbles as champagne corks pop and air-kisses are exchanged.
And, finally, here she is, the all-singing, all-dancing, all-designing Kylie Minogue.
Clad in a sparkly black top and spray-on jeans, she introduces the new line in an accent that is still more Ramsay Street than Park Lane.
"It's our fourth year running and I think it's clear for everyone to see that the range is getting better and better," she smiles.
"The feedback from customers and friends has been incredible and we took all of that on board. Thank you so much for coming!"
That's it. After bantering with the assembled photographers she takes a seat next to trusted fashion adviser and pal William Baker to watch the show.
The blood-red walls and rich purple carpet of Cavendish Square's snazzy Number 5 restaurant set the mood: it's Moulin Rouge meets Dancing Queen as models meander through the room, clad in the briefest of bras and undies.
However, Kylie's smalls aren't what most people are watching; it's the smaller-in-the-flesh superstar on the banquette.
She directs the action from the side, instructing models where to sit for the after-show shots, and there's a hint of the steely determination in her eyes that has seen her inexorable rise from small-town girl to La Minogue.
She's chuffed at the reception her knickers have had: "I loved that," she beams.
"I was really impressed, so you can relax and we can relax. I hope you like it."
With a last wave and a twirl for the cameras she's gone, off to repeat the show in Paris tomorrow.
