Another of the Friends has returned to TV. Lisa Kudrow introduced her new sitcom, The Comeback on HBO this week.
Written by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, who scripted much of Sex and the City, the show is about a fading TV star who tries valiantly to regain her position in TV's hierarchy after her hit show's been off the air for eight years. At the same time she's the subject of a prying, personal documentary.
Kudrow says she got the idea years ago. "I was doing sketch comedy and I wrote a monologue. I thought I would like to make fun of actors on talk shows who are so self-serving."
