SYDNEY - After a two-year hiatus, the Ksubi (formerly Tsubi) boys Dan Single and George Gorrow last night made their much-anticipated return to Australian Fashion Week.
Headlining the Ksubi show at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney's Circular Quay was US model Erin Wasson, who flew in for the event.
The cult label's return had the feeling of a celebration as the crowd thronged the aisles and the catwalk before the show .
American socialite and gossip mag favourite Nicole Richie was rumoured to be among the guests, but she did not fill her designated seat.
As the lights went down and a hard bass began to pump, the audience cheered and whistled.
A silhouette of Wasson appeared, in black PVC pants and a silver and black star-spangled cape.
The look was unisex with both male and female models wearing skinny-leg jeans splashed with purple and green paint with oversized T-shirts and full-length crochet hoodies.
Single enjoyed his return to Australian Fashion Week.
"Yeah, it's been fun, it's been a project we've enjoyed doing," Single said after the show.
"We can't do it all the time. It kind of gets a little bit boring doing the same thing all the time."
Phil Staub, managing director of the General Pants casual clothing store, was full of praise for Ksubi, which started out as a jeans brand.
"In our stores, sales are unbelievable," Mr Staub said.
"We can't get enough of them really, it's quite a phenomenon, I love it."
Later, in the evening's final show, guests were ferried to a waterfront mansion in Woolwich where a house party was under way to launch swimwear label Hallican Boodie's latest collection.
A five-foot high catwalk had fashionistas craning to see what the hot new label favoured by celebrities such as Paris Hilton had to offer.
The highlights of the small collection were a sexy silver two-piece with a crossover halter neck set off with simple gold hoops and a light pink strapless babydoll top paired with matching briefs, perfect for lounging poolside.
