"So then I [was] just like, 'this is it, I'm done'".
Years later, Rachel says that even though it caused a rift with her family at the time, she has no regrets. She ended up marrying the other man and they now have two kids together.
Others also confessed to wishing they had done a runner on their wedding day instead of going through with their vows.
"I didn't do a runner, but walking back down the aisle we both stopped halfway, looked at each other and said 'what the f*** have we done?'" a woman named Gemini revealed.
"The whole church fell quiet around us as I cried ... He left a couple of months later."
For Tina, family pressure almost ruined her big day.
"I had a complete meltdown the day before thanks to my over-stressing mother," she said.
Meanwhile, Bronwyn revealed she was the one left hanging as her nuptials loomed.
"One of my exes chickened out when I planned everything," she said, "but luckily I hadn't put any money down."
Carla admitted that on the way to the ceremony for her first marriage she had her doubts.
"I said to my sister 'I don't want to do this', but because it was all arranged I went through with it. As much as I wish I had gone with my instincts had I done so I would not have ended up here in New Zealand or have the two children I have now and ultimately married a really good guy second time around."
And Joanna shared that her efforts to back out of her marriage were thwarted by her mother-in-law.
"I tried to pull out 6 weeks before we got married," Joanna said, "But my mother-in-law-to-be pointed out how much money they had spent and that my parents were on their way from New Zealand - I was getting married in the UK - so I married him. It lasted 18 months."
